Why choose a Death Doula?

🕯️ What Is a Death Doula?

A Death Doula — also called an End-of-Life Doula or Death Midwife — provides holistic, spiritual, and educational support for individuals who are dying and the families walking alongside them.

As a non-medical companion, the Death Doula fills the space where the healthcare system often ends — and where compassionate, personalized care truly begins. We hold space for grief, legacy, cultural ritual, fear, and love — all the human experiences that cannot be charted on a medical form.

It is never too early or too late to consult with a Doula. Some come to this work years before passing, others arrive in their final days. Both are sacred.

Each Doula brings their own spiritual lens, lived experiences, and personal specialties to the work — so finding the right Doula is a lot like finding the right doctor, therapist, or guide. It’s deeply personal. The most important thing is that you feel safe, seen, and supported in the journey ahead.

✨ Why Hire a Death Doula?

Because death is not just an event — it’s a soul passage that deserves to be approached with dignity, ritual, and reverence.

As your Doula, I offer more than support. I offer ceremony, cultural care, and sacred structure to help you or your loved ones navigate death not with fear, but with meaning.

A Death Doula Can Help You:

  • Emotionally and spiritually prepare for transition

  • Design legacy projects or rituals to honor your life

  • Guide your family with clarity and care

  • Ensure your end-of-life experience aligns with your values, beliefs, and ancestral traditions

🖤 Why Dark Matter Self Care?

Because we all deserve sacred support — in life, in death, and in the space in between.
I’m here to hold space for your process with warmth, wisdom, and cultural integrity.

Your journey is sacred. Let’s honor it together.

Education and Counsulting

Changing the Conversation Around Death
I offer community-centered talks, workshops, and collaborations designed to make death literacy and spiritual self-care accessible to Black, Indigenous, and culturally rooted communities.

Grief-work

Navigating grief is hard to do. There are many ways to help clients process their thoughts, emotions and examine how they view death. I specialize in using journaling, guided imagery and meditation for this process.

Spiritual and Emotional support

Spiritual and emotional support are very important during this time. These services are completely lead by the client/family and are curated based on the needs of the client no matter the religious and spiritual background. Comfort and care are the highest priority when caring for someone who is dying.

Legacy Projects

Legacy projects are a good way to leave something behind to be remembered by. Whether its writing a book, creating a college, or an altar for veneration, we help you create the perfect way to be remembered.

Funerals, Rituals, and Vigils

Making decisions may be hard to do in an emotional state.  I am able to service as a planner and walk you through the final services.
Ritualizing death is a way of allowing a person to add ceremony to their death before passing. As well as making sure the rituals of your particular religion are carried out.

Advance Directives

What are your final wishes? Have you given much thought about the quality of life and leveler care you will have in the end. In this session we will discuss medical care, proxy, power of attorney, DNR's and what may be right for you.

**When considering whether or not to book a service please consider two things. 1.) The time frame may differ based on the the service. Sitting vigil for a person in the dying process may take days and planning a funeral may take a couple hours. 2.) Cost should not be the reason you don't reach out to me. If you are in need of help navigating any part of the dying process email me and we will take about what arrangement can be made. **
